about the role
Role of an IT Business Analyst
This role requires and alert and proactive individual who is able to effectively manage the operation of our business systems, using the company IT network and infrastructure. Key functions will include the provision of business information, project management and the updating of IT policies and procedures
- Manage project life cycle from initial sign off and scope through to implementation and support.
- Ensure integrity and timeliness of all data interfaces between systems.
- Manage housekeeping and security of all data, both in-house and externally maintained (including back-ups and DR).
- Maintain and make use of business information tools and reporting systems to provide decision information to appropriate personnel.
- To meet with the service providers on a regular basis to ensure that they are meeting the agreed SLAs.
- Monitor and update SLAs as required to meet changing business needs.
- Ensure that any additions or changes to the service levels or infrastructure are documented correctly in accordance with the change control processes.
- Reviews and edits requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solutions.
- Leads testing efforts of IT systems and interfaces.
- Support internal LAN equipment, servers and operating systems.
- Provide technical assistance to IT Operations staff and computer systems users

what experience do you need?
Skills of an IT Business Analyst
- Relevant academic or professional qualifications to support key skills.
- Experience of IT within a retail environment.
System Knowledge of an IT Business Analyst
- Microsoft Server Systems environment.
- Storage and networking technologies.
- Planning and project management tools e.g. Prince 2.
- Communication infrastructure to support a retail environment end to end e.g. webservices, resilient solutions for warehouses and cost effect store solutions.
- System management tools.
Preferred skills for an IT Business Analyst
- Microsoft certified (MCSE/ Win 2000, 2003, SQL 2000/2005)
- Exposure to IBM iSeries/AS400
- ITIM chameleon EPOS
- Manhattan ILS warehouse systems
