about the role

  • Work with the footwear team to produce the department product strategy in line with overall company strategy and successfully implement the same.
  • Prior experiences as a footwear buyer
  • Work with footwear Designer to create and develop seasonal ranges which deliver the overall product strategy and phased buy plans.
  • Manage the footwear fashion sampling process from design packs through to finished proto samples.
  • Work closely with the buying team to select a balanced and commercial range which satisfies customer needs and have this successfully signed off with the Heads of and CEO.
  • Together with the footwear buying team create and implement a supply chain strategy which sets out short, medium and long term plans for supplier partnerships, development and improvement.
  • Manage the placement of orders ensuring all KPI’s and delivery targets are met.
  • Work with Senior Buyer to fashion wardrobe outfits for photo shoots and VM guidelines, which focus on key lines and looks of the collection.
  • Manage the critical path process ensuring the footwear fashion remains on brand through the approval cycle and that launch availability is maximized.
  • Through weekly trading reviews and proposals, ensure that in season activity maximizes profitability whilst maintaining efficient controls of otb and commitment.
  • Input into cross functional projects as required eg Retail Operations, Visual Merchandising, Home Fashion Shopping and Warehouse.
  • Effectively manage and motivate buyer assistants through development and Reviews, ensuring that assistant buyers understand their contribution towards company goals and buying targets.
  • Develop self through store, competitor, factory, fayres, and supplier visits. And through increased awareness of other HO functions and company issues, not just as a buyer.
  • Plan seasonal buying price and promotional activity together with Merchandiser and in line with the overall strategy.

what experience do you need?

  • Thorough understanding and extensive experience of all buying principles and systems.
  • Understanding of garment/footwear construction.
  • Full understanding of a buyers role and prior experience as a buyer within footwear
  • Commercial and Market awareness.
  • Understanding of the supply chain & product lifecycle, within footwear
  • Comprehensive understanding of customer profile/ end buyers, product range, and competitors.
  • Use of Microsoft Excel
  • Passionate about product
