what is diversity?

Here at DISCOVER RETAIL we wondered what does the word 'diversity' really mean...

Think of how many kinds of fruits, or T-shirts, or books there are. How about all of the many types of houses and cars that exist? Or the amazing variety of birds, plants, and fish found all over the world?

People are diverse in other ways too, we live in different places, have different kinds of jobs, and go to different schools. We have a variety of ethnic backgrounds and religious beliefs. We speak many different languages and differ in our thoughts and feelings.

In our working lives either running a company or working for a company 'diversity' is being talked about constantly... it needs to be understood... simply tossing it out there, without more details, elaboration, and explanation, would be like tossing confetti... it looks nice, it feels good... it's pretty but ultimately it can leave a mess behind.

It is not to be ignored the world needs to become a fairer place for everyone whatever creed, colour, sex, gender, religion, age or disability you have and here at DISCOVER RETAIL we fully support 'diversity'... when employing our own people and by educating our customers when they use our brilliant services to find them the best job in the world or the best staff in the world...
